Spotlight on Ministry:  GEMS

God Embedded in Mind and Soul

Organized in 1983 by a group of pastors in the upstate who felt a different kindof ministry is needed for women, GEMS works with the richest to the poorest, from the slums to the mansions, interacting with many cultures to bring women closer to God and His Son, Jesus Christ.  Here are some of the ministry highlights:

Donation for Roadside Assistance for the Soul

Deborah Jenkins and team ride through nine areas of Anderson that are drug-infested and harbor gangs, dealers and prostitutes.  GEMS hands out items and ministers to the women there.  They have taken some off of the streets and led them to the Lord Jesus as their Savior.

Want to donate to this amazing ministry?  GEMS currently needs crackers, small toiletries, "Wet Wipes," "Wisp" toothbrushes, Kleenex, cookies, peanuts, silk flowers, washclothes, small soaps, lip balm, gas cards to keep GEMS cars on the roads, tomato plants or anything you think that women might want.  Items need to be small in size so that they are easily transported to those who need them.

Children's Bible Clubs

Bible Clubs will also be formed this summer on the edge of these areas.

GEMS is accepting these donations to prepare for that season of ministry:

VBS kits, crafts, Sunday school materials, $25/tent needed (weekly), small toys, small stuffed animals, cookies, drinks, sandwiches and VOLUNTEERS.

Project:  Santa's Sack

This is a newly-formed ministry to collect toys for children during the whole year to prepare for the Christmas season.  GEMS is currently accepting donations of toys for boys and girls of all ages.

Feel that little tug of God on your heart?  Want to help by donation or as a volunteer?  Here's how to start:
