God is doing amazing things through the dynamic Body we call Capstone Church. This is apparent in our ministry to the surrounding community, our fellowship and worship on Sundays, and in an incredible element of our church life known as homegroup. If you've never been to a homegroup, the idea is pretty plain and simple: believers from all walks of life engaging together over God's Word and a snack or two. But as members of every homegroup within our church will tell you, the Lord meets us there among friends in a truly awesome way. The first century church met together in a similar way, and the Holy Spirit transformed lives. Our church meets in this way weekly, and that same Holy Spirit is about the same business.

Financial Frenzy?

With Black Friday Coming up, many of you might be planning to "shop til you drop." But here are some signs that you may need to turn that spending light to yellow before you crash and burn.

Signs you need to be careful this Black Friday: (From Dave Ramsey)

1. You’ve set your alarm to wake up early and beat the crowds.

2. You don’t trust your alarm and are instead sleeping outside the store the night before Black Friday.

3. You’re resisting eating turkey on Thanksgiving because it makes you too sleepy to really “get your shop on.”

4. You personally call it “Happy Friday,” not Black Friday.

5. The only websites you have bookmarked are underground blogs that post secret info about Black Friday deals.

6. On Black Friday, you buy stuff you already own multiple copies of just because it’s heavily discounted.

7. You drink five coffees before the stores open.

8. You wear a hydration backpack full of coffee the entire day.

9. You scout stores a week before Black Friday in order to figure out the fastest, most efficient routes to take in the aisles.

10. You hustle people home before they’ve finished Thanksgiving dinner because you want to make sure you get enough sleep for Black Friday.

11. Your envelope system has caught on fire in the middle of a Black Friday because you’re using it so much.

12. You turn your copy of The Total Money Makeover over on your coffee table because you don’t want Dave to see how many things you buy on Black Friday.

It's YouVersion, an online Bible-reading software that has a networking feature built in. YouVersion offers several options for reading the Bible in 30, 90, or 365 days and you just sign up for whichever one best fits you. Clicking on a verse enables you to read what others have posted about it or websites they found helpful in understanding it. It's all free.

I think it's great, so I've started a 365-day reading plan this week. YouVersion allows me to follow other people and what they are writing about their daily read -- reflections, inspirations, questions and whatever else. Capstone has also started a group on the site so that we can connect more easily. We'd love to see you there :) Go to youversion.com and sign up!

Under His Wings, a ministry of Haven of Rest, provides a safe, supportive environment for ladies who have completed a substance abuse program and are starting a new life. The women there enter into a 12-week program that is intended to strengthen their faith and solidify their commitment to healthy living, and we couldn't be more thrilled to be involved with what God is doing through it.

This month we have another opportunity to bring Game Night into the Under His Wings house, Capstone style! We would love for you to come join us on Friday, April 23 at 6:15. We will meet up at the church office and ride over together, wrapping things up around 8:30. Each person who participates is asked to bring a simple snack to feed 12-15 ladies. It's sure to be a great time, so mark your calendar and make your plans now to experience this blessing with us!

Thursday, October 1 will be our next walking group night. We will be walking at the AnMed campus and meeting in the back lot (closest to the YMCA) at 7pm. Hope each of you can make it! We're going to have a great time and burn some calories while we're at it!

Mother-Daughter Brunch

We are thrilled to announce our plans this year for a Mother-Daughter Brunch! The brunch will be held on May 8 at 10:30 am, and the Cafe area will be beautifully transformed for this very special occasion! And, for an added measure of excitement, we are asking for volunteers to sponsor each table. Sponsors will complete the scene with service for eight at each table -- their own dinnerware, glasses, and silverware -- giving each table its own unique flair! If you are interested in sponsoring a table, please sign up on the church bulletin insert as soon as possible.

Take this opportunity to dress up in your girliest, bring along that precious loved one, and celebrate the wonderful joy of Mother's Day! Tickets will be $3 per person and will be available in the coming weeks, so make your plans to attend!

This year we are holding our second annual Valentine Banquet, and you and your sweetheart are invited to be a part! Summer Fun at Calvary Home

Calvary Home for Children is a remarkable ministry in our community that shares the love and hope of Christ with families that desperately need it. It's our privilege to share in what God is doing there and we are thrilled to be a part of it!

On Saturday, August 8th we will have the opportunity to become kids again as we play some games, get messy with some crafts, and sip some kool-aid with the children of Calvary Home. Capstone Kids' Day Out

The Capstone Chicks Team is planning some great activities for parents and children to get the most out of summer vacation! These opportunities will only last while the sun shines brightest and the temperature climbs highest, so don't miss out!

The next event we have planned is a swim day at Shepherd Swim Center on July 16 at 11:00. The outdoor splash zone will give your little ones an outlet for some of that summer energy, so bring your lunch and come have a blast with us!

Capstone will be collecting casseroles through October 30 to help feed the children of Calvary Home through the winter months. Whether it's a breakfast casserole, a lasagna, a chicken pot pie, or your favorite recipe, the house parents who care for 6-8 kids in each cottage would be greatly blessed by your generosity.

Christmas Party with Under His Wings!

Two years ago, Capstone Chicks first had the unique privilege of celebrating Christmas with Under His Wings, and that visit sparked a flame of love in our hearts for the women there. Since that time, Game Night has become a regular part of our activity as a women's ministry, and we have seen so many hearts encouraged through wonderful outreach!

On Friday, December 11, we will be meeting at the church office at 6pm to ride over for our 3rd annual Under His Wings Christmas Party. The party will begin at 6:30 and we will have an amazing time with great food, conversation and a simple Christmas craft. All you are asked to bring is an appetizer or dessert to serve 10-15, a little creativity, and your wonderful Christmas spirit!

Hey Chicks! We're so excited to announce the next Bible study in the Capstone Chicks' line-up:

Esther: It's Tough Being a Woman

Beth Moore will be leading the study via video, helping us explore the courage of Esther and the ways in which our God not only molded her into an example of obedience, but how He desires to mold each of us as well. This study is so relevant to the life and times of today's woman, covering topics like how it feels to live in someone else’s shadow, to see physical beauty take precedence over character, to face life-altering decisions, to move from self-preservation to brave determination, and to see mean-spirited people prevail. We're thrilled that Caroline Barfield will be leading us through our discussion time, and as always there will be great food and time to grow in our relationships with each other.

So much is happening in the life of Capstone Church -- these are exciting times, amen?! There will never be a better time for you to plug in and connect with this great group of ladies! Make plans to join us and know that God is planning to touch your heart in an incredible way!

We had a really good response to the Capstone Chicks survey that was sent out a couple of weeks ago. It was so wonderful to hear your ideas, feedback, and general input on some of the many facets of our ministry at Capstone. If you haven't gotten a chance to take the survey, you can click on this link to do that, and the whole thing shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Thanks so much to everyone who participated!

Some of the most obvious areas of interest within our group are:

4. Community Outreach

We'll be sure to incorporate all of these in some way within the next year, so keep your eyes open for those opportunities in the weeks to come! We also had a lot of interest in a Mother-Daughter Brunch to be hosted in May, details coming soon!

The DEEPER STILL CONFERENCE !!!!

Our trip is quickly approaching and below are all the details you need to know. It’s going to be a great time for us Capstone Chicks!!

• We will be meeting at the church office at 12:30pm on Friday. Plan to have already eaten lunch or bring it with you to eat on the way.

• We are staying at the Wyndham Hotel in Atlanta. #404-873-4800
125 10th Street NE Atlanta, GA 30309. Ladies have been assigned to rooms already due to the hotel needing them ahead of time. These are flexible.

• We will check into our rooms before the event Friday night and then meet in the lobby at 4:30pm to go eat before the event starts at 6:00pm.

• Unfortunately, no outside food or drinks are allowed in the arena, so plan to buy dinner Friday and lunch and dinner Saturday. A continental breakfast is offered by the hotel for Saturday morning. You can also bring your own breakfast foods.

• We plan to eat inexpensively for meals, but still try to plan about $10 each meal due to higher costs in the city and arena. That also includes any drinks you may buy at the event.

• Make sure you don’t forget to pack your Bible ;)

• The event ends at 5:30 Saturday evening. We will head straight home with each car stopping at its own pace for dinner.

We had an incredible time watching Anita Renfroe together and laughing at the things only women would understand! You can still click on one of the videos in the side bar to get a taste of what we enjoyed that night, most of them I'm sure we won't quickly forget! Thanks to all the wonderful ladies who showed up to make it a great event, and a smiley sticker to those who brought friends!

That's right, it's time for another comedy night with Anita! We thought that a couple of weeks after school starts would be the perfect time for us to invest in some comic relief, don't you think? This time we'll be enjoying Anita Renfroe's lastest and greatest DVD, "It's Probably Just My Thyroid," and it promises to be a hoot you won't want to miss. We'll get started on Saturday, Sept. 6th at 6:30 at the church office, and we'll begin with some great pizza and drinks, and, of course, dessert! Yes, it's finally here!

We are thrilled to announce a brand new Bible study from a brand new speaker that we will be participating in this fall: Discerning the Voice of God. In this study, Priscilla Shirer will lead us via DVD in "how to recognize when God speaks," and I can't think of a better topic for us to delve into! Priscilla is the daughter of Tony Evans, and all of the ladies who attended the Deeper Still conference this past June just fell in love with her heartbeat for the Savior. We're looking forward to hearing from her and to experiencing God's Word in a fresh and exciting way.

And, in the spirit of a new season, we've decided to give Bible study night a completely different feel, beginning with a time change. Monday, September 22nd, our time together will begin at 7pm, giving everyone an extra thirty minutes (and who doesn't need those?) to get to the church office. The last session will be November 3rd, making this a 7 week study, and wrapping up just in time for the holiday season. There will also be some other refreshing changes within the study itself, but you'll have to come be a part to find out more! As women who are a part of that remarkable blessing, we have a wonderful chance to minister to one another by sharing our lives. That's what family is about, right?

We believe one of the best ways to love each other in Christ is to continually pray for each other's needs as they are called to mind. If you have a prayer request to share with the ladies of the church, please enter it under the responses section below so that we can lift it up with you in the coming weeks. You can enter a request anonymously or you can include your name with it -- whichever way is fine. If you would rather send an e-mail in to the staff at our church, you can do so here, and they would be honored to pray for you.

Game Night with Under His Wings!

Since the first time talking with Libby of Under His Wings until the last time we went out to do a game night with the ladies, this ministry has been nothing but a blessing to be involved in! We just do the simplest of things by bringing some snacks and some entertainment to that precious group on Orr Street, we always come away with full hearts and rejoicing spirits over what the Lord is doing.

Come experience what I'm talking about!

Our next game night will be Friday, September 19, at 7 and we'd love to have you come be a part. We'll be meeting at the church office at 6:45 to ride over together, and each person is only asked to bring a snack that serves 10-15 folks. This past December, we had an opportunity to meet some wonderful ladies who serve in our community. Under His Wings, a ministry of Haven of Rest, provides a safe, supportive environment for ladies who have completed a substance abuse program and are starting a new life. Norma and Libby have joined the Lord in His marvelous work in the lives of many, many women, and have this to share about their ministry:

"Since 1999 we have graduated 293 women of all ages and all walks of life. Of these graduates, to our knowledge, 60% have remained clean and sober. Many, many women have accepted Christ as Savior and Lord. Others have renewed their commitment and many relationships have been restored. All of this has been made possible through our LORD JESUS CHRIST."

We are so excited to have another opportunity for involvement in this remarkable ministry! This Spring we will be bringing a Game Night to the women there, and we'd love for you to bring your competitive self over to join in! We will be meeting at the church office at 6:45 on Friday, April 18 and will be back around 9pm. ..."Comedy Night" with Anita Renfroe! Anita is a gifted christian comedian who has been a featured guest on Good Morning America, and she has plenty of spunk to get your giggles on a roll! We will be bringing Anita to you via DVD on our first ever Ladies' Night on Saturday, May 3, at 6:30 pm at the church office. We'll start the night off right with some great pizza, drinks, and sweets (of course) and then we'll enjoy some good laughs together as Anita shares some of her best stuff with us. The cost will be $5 per person, but if you invite a friend, she will get in for free!
